This website is to help single parents be their best.

One Together – why the name?

The name One Together acknowledges that yes you are ‘one’ as a single parent but you are not alone, and ‘together’ you can nurture your family so it flourishes. It has ideas on how to be the best parent you can be and grow your best family.

There are many single parenting programs and resources around, many focusing on supporting and parenting the children of the relationship break up, all of which is incredibly important. The focus of One Together is a bit different, it is the parent.

For you as a single parent it aims to help you be your best, and in so doing it will improve the outcomes for your children.

Single parenting does not have to equal bad parenting. However we may have to be more intentional in how we parent to ensure good outcomes for our children and to decrease the stress of the household. Remember, single parenting can produce emotionally healthy, well-adjusted children who are good citizens.

Blogs

The blogs are an expansion of these ideas to help you be the best single parent you can be and are posted once a fortnight on the first and third Thursday of the month.

Do you need a little encouragement?  7 days of Hope for your future is a devotional containing Christian content to encourage single parents, that even in the midst of the tiredness, struggle and daily grind of parenting on your own, there is hope. For me as a Christian, this hope comes from God and what He says about me and my circumstances from the Bible. It is the whisper of His presence when I feel alone and overwhelmed; the light of the promise of a future when my present appears a never ending tunnel of darkness. I want to share some short reflections, to take you on a journey for seven days, to show you that you are not alone in your role as a single parent. The God of the universe sees and cares for you. He sees your struggles and He is for you, and He cares about your children as well.

Who’s behind it?

One Together is one of 3 websites (currently) that host my passion to provide hope and healing in many areas of life that stem from my lived experience of divorce, single parenting and living with a chronic illness (launching mid 2017) and my passion to equip ministry workers to promote abundant life and hope in others, practising self-care to last the distance. There are many cross links between the websites.
